How to set up Coway AP-1512 Mighty Air Purifier

Most people buy air purifiers and forget to unwrap them, some are sealed up with plastic wrappers.  Buyers sometimes think that the purifiers are supposed to be in that same form that they were bought.

The main aim of manufactures wrapping the purifiers is to prevent them from getting dirty, the buyers are supposed to unwrap all the wrappings so as the purifiers can perform their own task which is trapping dust and cleansing the air around.

If you keep your purifier wrapped that means it won’t perform its task and you are going to waste energy that is not worked for appropriately. When buying you have to also make sure that the filters inside the purifiers are unwrapped, this will make a greater effect on your house in terms of air purification.

While placing your Coway AP-1512 Mighty Air Purifier, make sure it is on an open place that is at least 18 inches from the wall and anyother furniture in the house. This will cause an effective air circulation and the purifier will be in a good position to trap dust and absorb odors.

The Coway AP-1512 air purifier has an advantage of being able to sense when there is no air to purify and shutting down itself since it is in no use which also assists in energy saving. It is recommended that you put your purifier on as always as long as you are home.

When the air is just flowing normally, you can use the lowest fan mode or the medium. On conditions where there are harmful pollutants such as stuffy room, or burning fires you can use the highest fan speed.

For best performance on your purifier, make sure that you regularly clean up your purifier. Make sure that you also check on your filter replacement indicator so that you may not over use the true HEPA filter.

Honeywell Hpa 200 Review

We found the honeywell hpa 300 to be a great fit for air purification in large rooms and as such we trust the honeywell company.

We therefore decided to give the honeywell hpa200 a try and see whether we could recommend it to our readers who are in need of a good air purifier but would not be able to use the honeywell hpa 300.

So lets get into it.

But first things first.

Cost

Honeywell is viable with a $197 price tag which is $50 cheaper than HPA300.

Honeywell is now having more than 30 air purifiers whereby most of them are just outdated but the HPA200 is not a trending device to be forgotten. If you are just aiming on the price tag then you may find out that Honeywell has even different purifiers with the same price. This makes it hard to recognize the better purifier but for the performance rating you should choose the Honeywell HPA200.The purifier has also a 5 years warranty. It has also an Energy star certification.

DESIGN

Honeywell design is a little bit boring though it has a reputation of creating quality air purifiers which influences many people to buy Honeywell HPA200.The design looks good for its fan power which therefore improves the power of air purification. Honeywell HPA200 features a combination of both plastic and metal, unlike other most purifiers, which consist of only plastic and still holds the same price bracket. On top of the purifier is an outlet grill. It is only 19 inches in height with function buttons and two led indicators for filter replacement, it has also two handles on each side. Honeywell HPA200 has only a weight of 14lbs meaning it would be easier to move the purifier at any point at home. Honeywell HPA200 is designed for a large room.

FILTERS

Honeywell HPA200 is a dominant air purifier witha great true HEPA filter in the world. Honey well is an impressive choice because of the following:

1.    Pre-filter _this has an activated carbon filter in it. This helps adsorb VOCs, gases, odors and trap larger particles. Filters are replaced after 3 months of usage.

2.    True HEPA filter _Honeywell HPA200 employs a dedicated true HEPA filter to capture up to 99.7% of down to 0.3 microns contaminant elements like pet dander, mold, viruses, germs and pollen.

Performance rating of Honeywell is still amazing compared with others of such a range, especially when the air purifier doesn’t have any ozone radiation. A decent air purifier like Honeywell HPA200 will cost $49 for annual filter replacement.

ROOM COVERAGE

Honeywell HPA200 is guaranteed for a room of 310sq feet. If you are confused about which air purifier to choose in $200, then Honeywell HPA200 is the runner-up in the race of room coverage.

The ACH (Air Changes per Hour) of Honeywell HPA200 is 5x, Honeywell commit really in making high ACH air purifiers. With so much power, Honeywell HPA200 will clean a room 5 times an hour.

The CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of Honeywell HPA200 is 190Dust/ 200 Smoke/ 180 Pollen (cfm). The CADR rating of Honeywell HPA200 is much better than other great air purifier of in the same price range.

SOUND

It is clear that Honeywell air purifiers are not for bedrooms or office use. Honeywell HPA200 is also not an exception, it is mostly used in hospitals, mortuaries or other public places since it has high capability to purify the air though the fan power is too noisy to handle.

POWER CONSUMPTION

Power consumption for Honeywell HPA200 is 84 watts, nearly half of its successor _ HPA 300. For using a Honeywell HPA200 8 hours per day, it would cost you up to $30 per year. The fee is stable and can be okay to use, as Honeywell HPA200 is an Energy Star device meaning the machine won’t lead to a high increase in your electricity bill.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Honeywell HPA200 offers enough features like a timer or auto light regulator setting. It has also an electronic filter replacement LED notification. It has a Dimmer option that helps you adjust the control panels LED brightness.

How to Get rid of Common Allergies

You must have battled an allergy.

Or maybe you had someone say that they have an allergy towards dust, pollen grains, pet dander, bee sting or even food.

Maybe it got you wondering.

What the heck is this allergy that you are talking about?

What is the body physiology that reacts to allergic things.

Well, you are lucky because we shall look into all those things.

Other than looking at what are allergies and causes, we shall also look at tips to avoid or even cure allergies.

So, sit tight and read through.

What are allergies?

An allergy is a damaging immune response by the body to a substance, especially a certain food, pollen, fur, or dust, to which it has become an extreme sensitivity to particular substances or situations.

What causes allergies?

An allergy starts when your immune system mistakes a normally harmless substance to a dangerous attacker. The immune system then produces antibodies that remain on the alert for that particular allergen. When you’re exposed to the allergen o’er, these antibodies can release a number of immune system chemicals, such as histamine, that cause allergy signs. Histamine is an organic compound involved in native immune reactions and physiological function in the gut and acting as a neurotransmitter for the brain, spinal cord and uterus.

Common allergy triggers include the following:

·       Airborne allergens, such as pollen, animal dander, dust and mold.

·       Certain foods, particularly peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, eggs and milk.

·       Insect stings, from a bee or a wasp

·       Medications, penicillin or penicillin based antibiotics

·       Latex or substances you touch, which can cause allergic reactions to the skin.

You might also be likely to develop an allergy if:

·       You have a family history of asthma or different types of allergies e.g. hay fever, hives or eczema.

·       You are a child

·       Have asthma or any other allergic condition

Types of allergies

Drug allergy

There are different ways you can tell if you have an allergic reaction to medicine hives and anaphylaxis being most of the common signs. A drug allergy is being experienced by some of the following symptoms.

·       Wheezing

·       Nausea

·       Vomiting and diarrhea

·       Decrease in blood pressure

·       Fainting

·       Facial swelling

Insect sting allergy

The type of bug you may be allergic to can range from stinging to biting insects, such as bees and mosquitoes. A sting or a bite will have its natural side effect and for an allergic person it will also cause you to display typical allergic symptoms. It is also likely to last longer than few days.

An insect sting allergy can cause one of the following:

·       A large area of swelling (edema) at the sting site

·       Itching or hives all over the body

·       Anaphylaxis

·       Wheezing or shortness of breath

·       Rash

Latex

Latex is a type of rubber used to create items such as rubber bands, balloons, condoms, gloves, etc. If you get into contact with this items and get complications such as skin redness, itchiness, rashes, this is to show that you may be allergic to latex.

Food allergies

This allergies occur due to individual’s immune system making an antibody which clashes with certain foods. This can lead to symptoms such as itching in the mouth, swelling dizziness vomiting, hives, and rashes. Such types of foods include peanut, eggs, milk, meat, etc.

Dust allergies

Dust is an irritant that most people are allergic to. Allergies caused by dust are such as sneezing, itchy eyes, coughing, and other cold like symptoms.

Tips on getting rid of allergies

Cleansing the nose

Try cleansing the nose with a sinus, irrigator or nasal oils since pollens adhere to our mucus membranes. While at work maybe in a yard or a dusty place you can also try to work with your mask put on to cover your mouth and nose. This will minimize the rate of you smelling chemicals or trapping dust directly with the nose.

Healthy diet

Research has shown out that people who eat healthy fresh vegetables and fruits have a low risk of getting allergic symptoms. This shows that a healthy diet is good for your body’s immunity. I recommend that you add at least a fresh fruit or vegetable to your every meal. Detox the body by eliminating fried foods, sugar and other toxins from your diet.

Drink  water regularly

Taking a lot of water can ease the rate of you being allergic. Warm water also has an added advantage since it can thin the mucus passage in your nasal passage. Water will also make you reduce the stuffiness. You can also inhale some steam to ease a stuffy nose.

Keep clean

Try making natural cleaners in your everyday ingredients, this will reduce the rate of harsh chemicals irritating your nose. Use air purifiers that have HEPA filters to trap all sorts of allergens.

The Honeywell hpa 300 would be a good fit for example since it has true hepa filters

If pollen count is high, you can keep your doors and windows shut to protect indoor air.

Medical attention

Try to make a point of knowing your triggers, take a skin test so you can know your triggers and later make a plan to avoid them. Butterbur is considered a good herb for people who are allergenic. Quercetin is a nutrient found in onions, apples and black tea that research has shown to block the release of histamine. Releasing stress on the nervous system permits the immune system function more effectively. Apple cider vinegar also boosts the immune system by breaking up mucus and lymphatic drainage.

Best Air purifier with Washable Filter in 2020

Let’s get real.

While you want the air in your house to be pure; dust, dander, pollen, smoke and odor free, you do not want to buy an air purifier which you will be incurring extra costs every time you want to replace the filter, right?

You want an air purifier which once you buy; you never have to dig into your pocket again to buy anything.

And that is why you are looking for an air purifier with either washable or permanent filters, right?

Come on, the energy costs that you have to meet every month for your air purifier are enough. You do not want yet another cost coming your way.

And that drives us to a very important debate about HEPA filters. Though they are highly effective in cleaning the air in your home to 0.3 microns of cleaning, you will have to replace them every 6 months.

Say for example that you have the Honeywell hpa300. It means that after every six months, you will be replacing three HEPA filters.

And there is still the carbon filters that do away with bad odor that might want to be replaced time and again.

So, do you really want to meet all those costs?

If you are like most people, then the answer is no.

Other than high replacement costs, HEPA filters also bring another challenge. That after every 6 months, you have some old filters that you need to dispose. That in itself is an environmental disaster.

Best Air Purifiers with Washable Filters

So, are there air purifiers with washable or permanent filters that one could buy and forget the replacement headaches?

Well, yes.

In fact, there is a ton of air purifiers with washable or permanent filters out there.

So, let’s dig into them.

But before that, let’s look at the difference between washable and permanent filters.

Washable vs Permanent vs Replaceable filters

As the name sounds, washable filters need nothing but a wash. While they will have indicators that remind you on when you should clean your filter, I would advise that you wash the filters every month.

Washing needs nothing but soap and cold water. So you will be unplugging the air purifier from your power source and remove the filters.

Add soap to your water and dip the filter into the water. Let it sit as the debris, dust and pollen come out of the filter.

You can also shake and agitate the filter a little to remove all the dirt.

Once you are done, rinse it and allow it to dry.

You can use a drier or just leave it in the sun to dry on its own.

Putting a wet filter back into your purifier could lead to mold building up and you do not want this.

For permanent filters, you should not touch them with water. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the dirt from them and once you are done, you can put them back.

Replaceable filters (read HEPA filters) should neither be washed nor vacuum cleaned. Anytime you feel that it has done its work and it is full of debris, remove it and dispose.

Get a new one to replace the old one.

Washing or vacuum cleaning would denature the arrangement of the fibers arranged inside the filter.

Top 10 air purifiers with washable/ permanent filters

  1. Honeywell HFD-120 QuietClean

honeywell hfd-200 quietclean air purifier

Check Lowest Price on Amazon

It comes with washable iFD (Intense Field Dielectric) filters that only need a wash after every three months.

Now how an iFD filter works is through electricity. It infuses a charge on the particulate pollutants in the air and then the charged air is passed through the honeycomb of iFD filtering polymers.

Since the particulate pollutants such as dust, pollen and dander are charged, they will get attracted to the filter and stay there. Clean air on the other hand is able to pass through the filter.

Now this working mechanism is nothing but similar to how an air ionizer works.

And we all know that an air ionizer is bound to emit ozone gases since when oxygen molecules are charged, they are bound to combine and form ozone.

So, this should throw you into panic, right?

Yes.

But the guys at Honeywell have been CARB certified meaning that their filters produce less than 0.05 ozone parts per million and this gives you an assurance that you will not get headache when using the purifier.  I would however not advise anyone suffering from asthma, bronchitis or emphysema to use these iFD filters as the ozone gases could be inhaled and cause lung irritations which could lead to their deterioration of health.

Other than the ionization of air, the electric working of this iFD filters might make you worried about the energy efficiency of the Honeywell HFD-120. But they have an Energy Star Rating showing that they are efficient and will not incur you humongous power bills.

As per the AHAM guidelines, this air purifier has a high CADR of tobacco smoke 110, dust 100 and pollen 132.

What we Loved about the Honeywell HFD-200

  • It oscillates as it works picking dirty air from all corners of your house and then delivering clean air back to all the corner. So every side of your house gets the love.
  • The iFD filters are washable. You need not spend so much money on replacement filters.
  • It is a high tower that picks dirty air over a large surface area.
  • For a 170 square room, you get it purifying the air 5 times in an hour.
  • It is noiseless and will clean air in your house quietly. So you probably have it for your bedroom.

What we did not like about the air purifier

  • It produces ozone and therefore would not be very good for people with asthma, bronchitis or emphysema.
  • The iFD filters are not as effective in removing particulate pollutants from your house as compared to the true HEPA filters.
  • You can only control it manually. No bluetooth or remote control.

2. Envion Therapure with Permanent Filters

Envion Therapure with Permanent Filters Check Lowest Price on Amazon
With HEPA type filters, the Envion Therapure air purifier is able to clean out dust, pollen and dander from your air. The HEPA type filters are permanent and so you do not need to dig deep into your wallet every six months to replace them.

No, all you need is a vacuum cleaner to suck out all the particulate air pollutants from the filters.

It also features a further UV Germicidal technology filter that will help in cleaning out volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as paint and carpet fumes.

A third optional filtration feature is the ionizer that will help in removing allergens that were not sieved by the HEPA type filter. This however would pose a danger as it is bound to emit ozone gases into your house.
If you are asthmatic, then do not turn the ionizer on.

It has a high CADR of smoke:137, dust:132 and pollen:155.

What we Loved about the Envion Therapure air purifier

  1. It has permanent filters which do not need any replacement but some simple vacuum cleaning
  2. It is able to clean VOCs from your house.
  3. It has a high CADR.

What I did not like about the air purifier

  1. It produces ozone gases that could be dangerous for people with lung problems.
  2. The HEPA type filters are not as accurate like the true HEPA filters and so they will not clean your air off as many pollutants.

Can you wash a HEPA filter?

Let’s say that you have your Honeywell hpa300 or any other air purifier and the true HEPA filters in it have run out of time. The reminder has already told you that you need to dig into your pocket for the replacements.

And true to the reminder, when you remove the HEPA filters, you find that they are so dirty with lots of debris, pollen, dust and dander and they indeed do need be replaced.

Well, the Honeywell hpa 300 has three HEPA filters and let’s imagine that this filter replacement reminder comes at the corner of the month when you are really broke.

Now one HEPA filter is going for about $50 and since you need three, you will have to spend about $150 which you do not have.

Should you go ahead to clean your HEPA filters?

Can you wash HEPA filters?

Can you wash HEPA filters?

Well, the simple answer is no.

Experts say that HEPA filters should be replaced and not cleaned if you want them to really work well.

Washing or vacuuming will alter the arrangement of the fine meshwork of fibers inside the HEPA filters such that it will start allowing particulate pollutants go unsieved.

But hey, let’s be more real.

You are broke and want to wash the darn thing.

True, cleaning up a hepa filter would save you lots of money that would have been used replacing with at new one.

At the same time, you do not have to have loads of old disposed hepa filters in your backyard

And of course you can do  clean your hepa filters, (because well, it is doable) but let’s look at the effects when you clean them.

What happens is that when you clean a true HEPA filter, it will surely lose its air cleaning accuracy.
We know very well that a new HEPA filter is able to filter out over 99.97% of air pollutants since it is able to filter out to 0.3 microns of particles.

These particles include pollen, dust, smoke and pet dander.

When you clean it either with a vacuum cleaner or cold water, you will destroy the meshwork of papers that make it up and so large particles of air pollutants will pass through it. It will also be producing lots of air per minute as compared to what it was doing before the cleaning.

  1. Cleaning hepa filters with cold water and soap

Washing a filter should not be that hard.

All you need is to remove it from the casing.

Apply some soap detergents and using cold water, soak it in the water for upto 15 minutes

When you soak it, you will find that the water immediately gets dirty since it will clean out all the debris and dirt from the filter.

You can then go ahead to rinse it by again soaking in cold clean water for 15 minutes.

Once you find that the water used to rinse it is not that dirty, go ahead to leave it to dry.

Then replace it.

  1. Cleaning hepa filters with a vacuum cleaner

The one thing that I least recommend in cleaning a hepa filter is using a vacuum cleaner.

Well, the vacuum cleaner will do a pretty nice job of cleaning it up but at the same time, it will destroy the arrangement of paper meshwork inside the filter. It will therefore not be very effective in cleaning your house air from then.

If you are yet to buy an air purifier and are looking for something that can be recycled, I would advise that you buy purifiers that have washable filters that we look at here.

The Honeywell HPA300 Review: Best Air Purifier for Large Room?

Reputable for its efficiency, high cleaning ability and durability, the Honeywell HPA300 true HEPA air purifier has been said to arguably be one of the best air purifiers that you will ever buy for a large room.

But is there truth in this or could it be just another marketing gimmick by people who want you to add yet another air cleaning gadget at home. Well, in this honeywell hpa300 review, I will explore that.

First things first–the honeywell hpa300 has true HEPA filters.

With the capability to clean away dust, pollen, cigarette smoke, mold and pet dander to a 99.97 percentage, it is indeed highly efficient. Its ability to clean away items as small as 0.3 microns is simply inimitable. And that it goes for a low cost below $300 endears the purifier to many large home owners.

What is difference between True HEPA filters and HEPA type filters

Now when we talk about TRUE HEPA filters, what do we mean by that? And why do we have to stress so much on the word TRUE HEPA filter.

Well according to health website WEBMD, HEPA is nothing but an acronym for High efficiency particulate air. A HEPA filter is nothing but a mechanical sieve that forces air through its fine mesh so that it can get rid of impurities such as pollen, dust and pet dander.

Now the HEPA filter has for so long been copied and counterfeited by marketers who sell you what they call ‘HEPA type filter’. But this is not the real thing. A true hepa filter would be able to get rid of 99.97 of air impurities in your home that are above 0.3 microns big. A HEPA type filter on the other hand can only capture impurities that are 2 microns large.

So, you now get the reason why we insist on air purifiers such as the Honeywell HPA 300 with true HEPA filter?

Because it will get rid of so much air impurities that it has been labeled safe for use by those people with allergies or are asthmatic.

But is not without its set of faults: for one, you cannot use it with a remote control. And you know that many home owners today want gadgets that are progressive and do not need so much manual works.

Our Honeywell hpa300 Review

Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover 465 sq ft hpa300 review

As someone who is highly allergic to dust, pet dander, pollen grains and irks at the smell of cigarette smoke, I was hell bent on getting a good air purifier for my home. But I was faced with lots of odds.

For one, my grizzly old father who lives in my house is a chain smoker and he has refused completely to throw away the smoky habit.

He is such a stubborn man!

At the same time, my kids love cats and so they are always crying to have the furry animal in the home no matter how much dander they bring in.

My wife loves flowers and so there is a small garden of flowers right outside the house and things get messy when they are flowering.

So I had to get solutions to solve my problems.

And so a friend advised that I look for an air purifier online and that is when I bumped on the Honeywell HPA 300 HEPA allergen remover on Amazon. Looking through the reviews, I found it to be a darling among other home owners. It had a 4 star rating with over 2000 other buyers claiming that it had indeed helped them.

It was praised as able to clean up air in a 465 square room per hour.

That is a really good CFM. I think that is really impressive since other air purifiers that you find around have a lower CFM.

Other than cleaning out pollen, dust and dander, it will also remove cigarette smoke odor or any other bad smells around your house since it has the carbon prefilter.

It must have been a good product.

So, I went ahead and bought it and I have never looked back.

For one, the Honeywell hpa300 is efficient and will clean out all the cigarette smoke that my nicotine loving father releases into the air. It also cleans out all the pollen grains and pet dander that find their way into the house. Needless to say, I have never had an allergy since I installed the gadget.

I also love the Honeywell hpa300 in that it works noiselessly. No one needs to know that you have an air purifier inside your home, do they? Let them just find out that you have some air cleaning gadget just because there is no dust on your furniture and that all pet dander is swept off the room. Noise needs not be an indicator.

Well, the Honeywell hpa300 meets this quiet working cliteria.

Features of the Honeywell hpa300 hepa allergen remover That I love

  • Noiseless unless you are using the turbo setting
  • No dust, pollen, dander on your furniture
  • Cleans out cigarette smoke
  • Fresh air per hour that betters your mood
  • Frees my basement off mold that might start collecting
  • Small and therefore is very portable to whatever room you want to clean up
  • Able to clean large rooms since it has a capacity to do an area of 465 square metres
  • It has 3 true HEPA filters that have been proved to be very efficient
  • It has reminders for you to check your carbon pre-filter as well as the 3 HEPA filters.
  • Unlike other purifiers that have an annoying LED light even at night, the honeywell HPA300 will give a good night sleep without any LED lights that might steal away your sleep.

What we did not like about this Air Purifier

  1. It could get noisy when you are using the turbo setting of the air purifier and therefore you would have to desist using it especially at night when you or your young ones want to grab some good night sleep.

2. When you are using it for the very first time, it had this foul chemical smell emanating from it that really put me off. I was actually about to ship it back and ask for a refund. But luckily, a friend told me that it was well and normal and that the chemical would go off. And surely it did.

3. You can only operate it manually as it does not allow remote control.

4. We also found out that it would consume lots of electric energy especially after detecting some dust, pollen or smoke in your house.

5. The honeywell hpa300 lacks a prefilter. When you remove the cover, all that is there is the carbon filter that removes odor from your air. This carbon filter also acts as theprefilter and so you will find it with lots of filth such as dust, pet dander and pollen that is cleaned in your home.

Other air purifiers such as the coway usually have a thin, fine mesh prefilter that takes care of the dust and dander.

The guys at honeywell argue that it will clean out bacteria , viruses as well as other volatile compounds in the air.

But we all know that it can’t since it does not use ultra violet rays in its air purification.

Comparison with the Honeywell HPA100 and HPA200

The only difference between this HPA300 with the HPA200 or HPA100 is that it has 3 HEPA filters installed into it while the HPA200 has 2 and the HPA100 has only one.

That is the only difference.

Owing to this, it will be able to clean a larger room at a shorter time than the HPA200 or HPA100.

Can you clean your HEPA filters with water or vacuum cleaner?

While a honeywell HPA300  is relatively inexpensive, the real cost comes in replacing the HEPA filters. It is recommended that you replace them after every 6 months of extensive activity.

And the replacement pack might go for as much as $50, right?

So are you willing to be spending the $50 to replace?

Well, most people are looking to clean them.

But the truth is that they go ahead to destroy the HEPA filters and do not have very nice air purification results.

So, I would advise you not to clean the hepa filter with water or a vacuum cleaner as you are going to destroy the filter.

You should always replace the filters.

Anyway, that is my honeywell hpa 300 review and I feel that with this kind of information, you are now adequately equipped with sufficient information to buy the gadget.

Benefits of Air Purifiers

Maybe you are like me, wondering why the heck you would need an air purifier.

Well, I was also sailing in the same boa0t until I realize the benefits that I was denying myself before installing the gadget. In this post, we are going to look at the benefits of an air purifier in your living room, bedroom, basemenyt or even in your car.

Lets get into it.

  1. Remove bad odors

Bad odors such as cigarette smoke, strong perfumes, a stinky toilet, a dead rat in your ceiling, mold in your basement and wildfire smoke could find their way into your home and accumulate there. Of course this is going to cause your home to feel uncomfortable, untaken care of an inhabtibatle.
Now, no one wants this.

If you have ever lived in a house where there was a dead rat whose carcass could not be traced, then you know how unhomely your house could feel. It is also embarrassing especially when you have visitors and the bad whiff of air gets into their nostrils and they cannot help showing how uncomfortable they are feeling.

And you are there helpless. You got to wait till the rat fully rots before the air in the house can get clean again.

Okay that is just one case scenario. There is another worse one where you have a family member who cannot live without a smoke a day. And they binge on their nicotine nonchalantly all day. Even at night. They give no care to how bad it smells after they have had their smoke delicacy.

And so we have to live with them.

And tolerate the second hand cigarette smoke which the CDC claims that it is worse off than the first hand smoke inhaled by the chain smoker.

Anyway, all these things lead to a bad airless house.

But not to worry because you can troubleshoot all these problems by getting an air purifier that cleans all these bad odors. With a good buy, you can live happily with your smoking relative while still continuing to kill those thieving rodents.

  1. Remove pet dander

We all love pets, don’t we? Yes they are furry and close companion.

But then as much as we love them, they might pollute your air with their pet dander that might cause allergies. Well you need not worry because with a good air purifier, everything is well taken care of. The purifier detects and removes the dander leaving your house air clean and fresh.

  1. Have an airy home that gives you a positive mindset

When you grab an air ionizer be it for your house or car, you are assured of a fresh clean home that helps you feel young and rejuvenated.

Air ionizers work by releasing electronsinto your air that freshens up the air around you.

  1. See clearly in a smoke free house

Whether you are in a misty, dusty place or smoke gets its way into your home, you will still be able to see clearly when you have an air purifier. It removes all these air pollutants that might be limiting your visibility.

5. Reduce airborne viruses and bacteria

Air purifiers that use ultra violet ray technology are able to kill and eliminate germs in your home. You are are therefore assured of cleaner air that does not carry as much diseases.

6. Have white noise generated by your air purifier as it cleans your air

If you are a parent to a newborne kid, then you know how fussy they can get. Before parturition, they were used to this serene environment in the womb.

When they are borne, their universe changes!

The serene noise is no longer there and it is replaced by these uncordinated noises that they cannot put up with.

So they wail.

Even at night when you want to relax.

Worry not because air purifiers are known to produce white noise as they work. White noise is that humming sound that the purifier makes as it cleans air. The noise is similar to womb noises and that relaxes your baby!

So when you get an air purifier for your baby room, you are killing two birds with one stone; one you are purifying the air in the angel’s room while at the same time relaxing them with that humming white noise.

How to Get Rid of Pet Dander from Your Home

Pet Allergy

Pets are companions that share in our sorrows and joys. They will be there, listening patiently smiling with us (in their language of course) and sometimes sympathizing with our woes. However, these best friends can wreak havoc in some of us as they are a source of indoor air pollution, which triggers allergic reactions. Their pet dander, saliva, skin flakes, and urine can cause these allergic reactions.

This is a real point of concern as studies have shown that one in every five pet owners has pet allergy or is living in the same household with an individual who has a pet allergy. It then begs the question, can you stand the separation from your best furry or feathery friend? Like most people would answer, I CANT. So what’s the solution apart from removing the pet from the household? The first solution is understanding the main source of allergy, which is pet dander.

What Is Pet Dander?

Pet dander comprises of the speckles of skin or feathers that animals with feathers or fur release. These speckles are usually light and tiny even for the bare human eye (they are microscopic!). There is a common misconception that only cats and dogs can release pet dander. However, as a pet keeper, it is imperative to understand that any pet with fur and feathers can shed dander. The common examples of other pets include guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, and even hamsters.

Once the pets shed these speckles, they will drift into the air. Due to their lightness and the small nature, they can easily be inhaled by the pet owner or the people living in that household. Once such a substance is inhaled, it gets into the lungs and for some people into the eye and nose membranes. Individuals who have sensitive immune systems will react to the protein in the dander. This affects the blood vessels causing them to expand and consequently, an allergic reaction. A person experiencing a pet dander allergic reaction will sneeze a lot, have watery eyes and the nose, experience nasal congestion, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and in some extreme cases, suffer from body inflammation as a result of skin rashes.

The dilemma of keeping a pet or taking care of allergic reactions will no longer be at the end of this article. We already dismissed the idea of getting rid of our little furry and feathery best friends. The idea of getting allergy shots is good, but it may be painful, and most of us fear shots, right? Nasal sprays, bronchodilators, and even antihistamines are effective but serve to relieve symptoms. So, what can we use to purify the air and avoid getting an allergic reaction in the first place? This question brings us to the second step of this amazing journey, where we get to keep our pets and allergies determined by the best air purifiers for pet allergies.

Best Air Purifiers for Pet Allergies

At this point, there is an understanding of almost everything there is to know about pet allergies. We will dive right into a review of some of the best air purifiers for pet allergies.

Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier

how to get rid of cat dander with air purifier

This is one product that will improve an individual’s mood and energy once it is turned on. It has amazing features beginning with its ability to capture 99.97 percent of particles that may cause indoor pollution through its HEPA filter. It is suitable for medium-sized to large spaces, which are the typical spaces for most pet owners. You do not have to worry about replacing the pre-filter now and then as it is washable. Please note that only the pre-filter is washable, and you will have to replace the HEPA filter.

The product’s other fascinating feature is that it has four fan speeds, which you, as the pet owner, can set to your liking. There is a low, medium, high, and turbo. High and turbo will give maximum airflow. Low and medium solve the problem for pet owners who may need silence in their homes, especially when they have sleeping babies or toddlers around. The low and medium speeds allow for near-silent cleaning. The product also has a sleep mode that does not disturb sleep as it cleans and purifies the air giving the entire household ample time to rest in clean environments.

It would be unfair not to mention the downside of this product. It utilizes plasma wave technology. The manufacturer does not include a warning that the product releases ozone, albeit in small quantities. Due to this, the technology may cause feelings of dizziness and lightheadedness in both pets and humans. Therefore, the first thing after the purchase of this product should be turning off the plasma wave.

Honeywell HPA8350 True HEPA Allergen Air Purifier, Black with Bluetooth

This is another product that removes 99.97 percent of allergens in the air. Perhaps the most fascinating and interesting element of this product is that it uses Bluetooth technology. This means that the user can connect the product to their android device or iPhone and gain access to advanced controls such as allergen alert and proximity sensor. This product monitors the air to identify any allergens present. After monitoring, it will filter and purify it, which it can do five times an hour. This means that the pet owner has very little chance to be in a non-purified room with this product.

Customers who have used this product indicate that it tends to have a chemical burning smell. This is a complaint from a few customers meaning that it could have been a faulty batch. However, it is important to let you, as a pet owner knows about this. After all, I understand how frustrating it would be dealing with pet dander and odor and then on top of it a chemical burning smell. Additionally, if you want to enjoy a silent afternoon with your pets while purifying the air, this product may fail to please. It is loud and may even have neighbors complaining soon!

LEVOIT H13 True HEPA Filter Purifiers

How would you like an air purifier that is 100 percent ozone free? Well, all pet owners are looking for such an air purifier. This is because we do not want to put our dander-filled pals at risk of lightheadedness and dizziness and change their usual bubbly nature. The LEVOIT H13 purifier is 100 percent ozone free and contains a three-stage filtration system. There is the pre-filter, true HEPA filter, and high-efficiency activated carbon filter. These guarantee the user pollution-free air- from 99.97 percent of contaminants.

Peaceful sleep, whether it is in the night or a simple afternoon nap is important for you and your pet. This is exactly what this product guarantees as it has low noise when purifying the air enabling people and pets to sleep peacefully in a clean environment. Sometimes we may be caught up in our busy lives and forget to replace filters. However, this product comes with a smart filter change reminder, which ensures that you do not forget this important task. It is important to remember that you have to use genuine Levite replacement filters to use the product efficiently.

Alen BreatheSmart Classic Large Room Air Purifier

This is another air purifier that can clean large spaces in only a matter of minutes. This Alen BreatheSmart air purifier can clean 1100sq every 30 minutes, three times faster than other purifiers. This is quite a catch, as it means you no longer have to worry about having your pets in large areas such as the basement. It is also fascinating in that it has an air quality sensor light in blue, orange, and red. This means that you can watch in real-time as the purifier transforms the air in your surrounding from a red (poor quality) to blue (excellent quality). People who have used this product indicate that it can be overly noisy, making it hard to enjoy some peaceful sleep when it is on. There have also been complaints about its longevity with previous users saying that it spoils quite fast.

Sometimes, the pet owner may look for alternative means of purifying the air due to various reasons. This is the last part of the journey presented here- alternative means of getting rid of pet dander without the use of air purifiers.

How else to get rid of pet dander from your house without using air purifiers

A lint roller can come in handy in removing pet dander. You will need to roll the sticky side of it onto surfaces such as curtains, furniture, clothing, or any other place that the pet gains access to. The second solution is to keep our friends clean by bathing them. This mostly applies to our furry friends. This can be quite challenging as we know that most of our little furry buddies dislike taking baths. However, it is essential as it can substantially reduce the amount of dander. Make an effort to schedule at least one bath a week. Allergy proofing areas that may escalate the allergic reactions of the residents of the house may also be an effective strategy. This can happen by putting covers on the surfaces in those rooms and getting them out when there is the intent to use it (this has to be done by another person not prone to the allergy).

Well, this is a win-win situation. We can finally have our pets and maintain our allergies too!
